The Austrian demo site will work in close collaboration with the Viennese municipal department, bringing together users and other local stakeholders in order to provide an innovative heating and cooling solution for affordable housing. At this site, a geothermal heating system will be implemented and combined with renewable solar thermal generation. This will allow for the heat that is supplied to the ground during summer to be stored for the winter months. The site will be managed by FHTW, who will analyse the energy consumption of the community.
"The demo site focuses on the refurbishment of Wilhelminian-style buildings in order to demonstrate the possibilities of the energy transition in urban areas. The building not only focuses on the present, but also forms the basis for the future with an anergy grid to which other buildings in the neighbourhood can be connected."
