Solar panels installed
Gernika TEK is the first energy community in Gernika. Located at the local San Fidel school, it consists of 200 solar panels that supply renewable energy not only to the school, but also to the infrastructure around the school: 150 homes, shops and public buildings such as the cultural centre.
The implementation of the project will help to avoid the emission of 885 tonnes of CO2 per year, which is equivalent to planting 3500 trees that absorb carbon dioxide emissions for 25 years.
“GAIA is responsible for ensuring the replicability of the project. We will also collaborate with the demo site in the Basque Country.”
